People for People

V.I.Shumakov Federal Research Center of Transplantology and Artificial Organs of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation traditionally and regularly participates in the public campaign "People for people", carried out in support of transplantation to rescue human lives. Task action - to draw the attention of the society and to help realize that the salvation of the terminally ill by organ transplantation is another important and actual resource to save the nation.

The first event was held on May 29, 2011 in Moscow, when the Luzhniki Stadium hosted an unusual friendly football match. The players, who have had an organ transplant of heart, kidney or liver, took to the football field. The teams also featured people (related donor), who gave a kidney or a part of liver to save their loved ones; doctors, transplantologists; our sports stars deemed it their duty to support those who already had a transplant and those of our citizens who are still in need of salvation. The event was attended by politicians and popular artists, members of the clergy of the four main religious denominations.

The event "People for people" - 2013 was arranged within the framework of the First Russian National Congress "Transplantation and organ donation" held on May 29, 2013. The opening day of the Congress brought an unprecedented event in the history of national transplantology – the transfer of the fire ignited from the Holy Fire in the Holy Land to V.I.Shumakov Federal Research Center of Transplantology and Artificial Organs. The fire was placed in a house chapel in the name of Saint Seraphim of Sarov at the Center, where patients and doctors receive pastoral care. The event "People to people" was attended by representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church - Archbishop Mark and Abbess of the Novodevichy Convent Margarita.
